Day and Section Hikes: John Muir Trail The John Muir Trail, a dream of many hikers and backpackers is one of the best long distance hiking trails in California – if not in the whole US. 211 miles long, the trail leads from the Yosemite Valley to Mount Whitney. You will experience mountains up to 14,000 feet high, a landscape sprinkled with countless lakes, canyons and breathtaking granite cliffs.
