PARK OFFICER DIES IN YOSEMITE
While investigating the death of a park visitor last Saturday,
Special Agent Daniel Paul Madrid (51) broke down on the Mist Trail
in Yosemite National Park.
According to the park service, his fellow park rangers as well as
a passing doctor were not able to reanimate him. No details of the
cause of death were released by the Agency.
Madrid was originally stationed in Missouri at the Ozark National
Scenic River Ways. He worked temporarily in Yosemite while fellow
park rangers and special agents were sent to assist hurricane
response efforts at the Gulf Coast.
The service said Daniel P. Madrid was the first of 48 special
agents of the National Park Service to die in the line of duty.
